My son is in a rock band. Two of the kids are 8th graders (one of which is my son), and the other two are Freshmen in High School. To be so young, they are very, very good! (I know I'm a little biased, but as an avid music-lover and concert-goer, they really are good!)
This past weekend the band participated in the High School Talent Show. It was a very fun evening full of great musical acts. Now that I think about it, I think ALL the acts were music of some sort. My son's band did a fabulous job performing and received tons of applause. (Quite cool, especially for the 8th graders, which aren't even officially in the High School yet!) At the end of the show the judges awarded the top three acts. My son's band won 3rd place! They kids were excited to hear their names being called out, and us parents were cheering them on enthusiastically. They were in the spotlight on the stage accepting their award and then all of a sudden the emcee announced that there was a $100 prize for winning third place. THIS is my son's priceless expression when he learned Ca$h was involved:
